On July 12, 2024, we visited this technology camp, and here is our story of one day with the aviators.
The goal of this camp was to form teams in the communities of Armenia that design, build, and manage flying devices. In the morning when we arrived, the organizers showed us the tents where children had spent the first night. However, due to heavy rains, they moved to a real roof for the next several nights.
We witnessed how children were working on creating colorful aircraft, and their enthusiasm and teamwork were incredibly inspiring. The practical session was even more impressive. Kids not only learned and improved their skills as engineers and aviators, but they also learned ethnological dances, how to administer first aid in emergencies, did physical exercises in the morning, played games, and practiced musical instruments.
We enjoyed having lunch with the campers. We loved the healthy food, which they served themselves, and after eating, they cleaned up the tables, helping each other.
Children really loved the camp. It’s worth mentioning an 11-year-old boy who wanted so much to spend the week at the camp that he initially said he was 13. Although the organizers found out his real age, they couldn’t ignore the great desire of the young aviator, and he became part of this new big “family.”
Before leaving the camp, it was nice to finally meet Ani and have a chat with her. Ani introduced this project to us, and our cooperation with Mit (Mind) began.
Ten teams of young people aged 13 to 15 from different communities of Armenia (four people per team) participated in the camp organized in Gyumri from July 5th to July 11th. At the end of the camp, teams received certificates and sets of flying devices. This is not just a gift; they need to continue working on their skills acquired here. After several months, in October, they have to report on the progress they made.
For this project, SYUN collaborated with the “Mind” Educational, Engineering, and Experimental Center NGO and sponsored the participation of the following teams:
Ani from Անտրոհուս / Antrohoos introduced us to this project and when we visited technology camp “Aviators” in Gyumri, Mane from «Միտ» կրթական կենտրոն showed and told us everything there.
