On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military offensive against starving Artsakh, which had been under siege for more than nine months. Hundreds were killed and wounded, including civilians. On October 2, the last bus from Artsakh left Stepanakert, completing a tragic, forced weeklong exodus of over 100,000 Armenians, leaving behind a ghost city.
Once again, the Armenian people faced a tragedy we had hoped would never happen. During the blockade, that hope drove many in Armenia to do everything possible to alleviate the plight of our Artsakh brothers and sisters. Within the framework of the Road of Life project, SYUN supported the initiative of a group of our compatriots who seized every opportunity to deliver necessary aid to the people of Artsakh. For this project, we collaborated with our very special partner, Diana Grigoryan, at the Armenian charity organization Ghoghanj.
Since January of this year, a large quantity of vegetable seeds, three motoblocks, and sowing equipment were sent to Artsakh and distributed to the residents of several villages, including Karmir Shuka and Taghavard. These supplies provided 60% of the vegetables that our struggling people could put on their tables during these difficult days.
Many boxes of baby food and medicine were sent, and The Artsakh Social Development Programs Fund distributed these items to families in need. Every box that reached Artsakh contained not only help but also hope for a normal life.
