“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” (Socrates)

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.

When the French Santé Arménie Foundation sponsored the trip of Jean-Luc, Sylvie and Dominique to Armenia, nobody expected that these specialists’ relationship with Armenia would last this long. After their first mission of first aid training, these French professionals fell in love with the country and ended up returning over and over again. Their collaboration with "VAL" Charitable Foundation is what brought their “First Aid Training” project to SYUN’s attention.

From May 2021 to February 2022 fourteen “First Aid Training” courses were attended by 368 participants from Armenia and Artsakh. 36 participants received the second degree  instructor qualification. Many of the participants of these courses stress the effectiveness of the acquired knowledge and each day more applications are being submitted for participation in the upcoming courses.

In December 2021 and January 2022 the training sessions were held in Syunik’s Nerkin Khndzoresk and Goris communities, where about 45 locals took part, including government officials. News reached the ears of Syunik’s governor and he decided to dedicate a large building in Goris to become a permanent “First Aid Training” center. Previously certified instructors will begin running this center after renovations are completed.

Thus the success of one initiative led to the beginning of another which we believe will succeed as well.

What We're Working On Now

First Aid Trainings

As we have mentioned this SYUN’s project is an initiative by the charitable foundation, VAL (Վերականգնման, առաջընթացի և լուսավորության). This project’s goal is to prepare paramedics and the population in general to provide first aid during emergencies.

In this quarter other than the training sessions in Syunik, a 5-day advanced first aid course was held in the "Hayastan" hall of "Ayb" school. As a result 21 participants, including Ayb's staff, received second level certificates. The course was conducted by Dominique Travo-Karine, Jean-Luc Messager, Sylvie Mrt (France).

Armath

The upgrade for three Armath engineering  laboratories for secondary schools in villages Araks and Pshatavan and Vagharshapat high school N 3 are still in progress. For this project SYUN collaborates with the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE).

L1 Adaptive Control Rystem Research

In cooperation with ISRC (Instigate Scientific Research Center), SYUN has started an L1 Adaptive Control System research project. L1 Adaptive control systems are an algorithmic solution to control UAV/UGV and other unmanned vehicles in various environments and conditions. The inventor of this technology, Naira Hovakimyan, will be in Yerevan and has agreed to help with the research. SYUN will sponsor the work of two researchers in two phases each lasting six months.

RealSchool+Armath Mesh Network

In our efforts to strengthen Armenia and assist in its development, SYUN came across a very exciting new project. RealSchool and Armath laboratories have proposed this project which is to create a mesh network in Armenia.
This mesh network’s purpose is to provide interconnectivity and communications throughout Armenia by connecting 617 Armath laboratories. When this project succeeds, this technology can be used to secure all communication in Armenia in case today’s infrastructure is damaged.
Our Pillars

Words cannot describe how truely grateful we are to have supporters like you. Your dedication to our cause inspires us.

Nina Shilina and Vardan Aroustamian have been generous supporters of SYUN even before SYUN existed. Nina is a math teacher and Vardan is an engineer. In his spare time Vardan enjoys photography and has had his works displayed at the 3 Square Art gallery. "Revealing something hidden and then showing some that is covered" is his aproach. We want to borrow his sentiments to highlight our pillars.

History Corner: Hayasa-Azzi

The Hayasa-Azzi were an indigenous Bronze Age tribal confederation which flourished on the plateau of ancient Armenia and eastern Anatolia between c. 1500 and c. 1200 BCE. The Hayasa-Azzi are the eponym of the Hay people, the term Armenians use to describe themselves and their state, Hayastan. Over time the Hayasa-Azzi mixed with other local tribes such as the Arme-Shupria and Nairi, probably motivated by the need for defence against more aggressive and powerful neighbours such as the Hittites and then the Assyrians in the southeast. Eventually, these various kingdoms would be fused into the region's first recognisable and recorded state, the kingdom of Urartu.

For realizing the "RealSchool+Armath Mesh Network" project, SYUN launched a Facebook fundraiser. We need funding to organize training, technical support for Armath coaches and to purchase the necessary hardware.
